Class Networking
As a social justice leader, I knew that I had to find a way to make my passions help me earn a living. I find it the most fulfilling experience to be able to do what I love and value as a job. But I have always struggled with connecting those two.
This is so because my primary focus is empowering women from low-income backgrounds and I do this usually with personal resources and mainly my voice, knowledge and experience in the field of workshops and advocacy. I am working to design a curriculum that includes aspects of the issues that I believe my community back home struggles with. However, I have always known that as a social entrepreneur, I am not selling my product to my consumers. And that is where this day came in. It felt liek that missing piece in my journey.
The course with Dr Sarah Stiles did an excellent job at helping us zoom in on this issue and help us actually be intentional at understanding where our passions and skills intersect. Listening to each other speak was a great way to see that it is okay if not all of us have it all figured out yet, we are still learning and this was a reminder to get more intentional on that learning
