Nina Kadan-Lottick, MD, MSPH (Director) nk873@georgetown.edu
I am a board-certified pediatric hematologist-oncologist with post-doctoral training in epidemiology who has applied my expertise to cancer prevention and control in survivors of childhood, adolescent, and young adult (AYA) cancer. Specifically, my research program aims to 1) measure the burden from late complications of previous cancer therapy and 2) investigate health behavior interventions to mitigate outcomes, and 3) develop health care models to improve care delivery. I completed my medical degree from Johns Hopkins University (1993), Pediatrics residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital (1996), Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Fellowship at Children’s Hospital, University of Colorado Health Sciences (1999). I was struck by the unique, unmet medical needs of childhood cancer survivors and sought to become a physician-scientist to improve outcomes in children and adolescents with cancer along the entire cancer journey from diagnosis through the decades after therapy ends.
Tara Suntum, MD
I am a Pediatric, Adolescent, & Young Adult (AYA) Hematologist/Oncologist at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (MGUH) and leader of our Pediatric & AYA Cancer Survivorship program. I completed a combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency at Virginia Commonwealth University followed by a Pediatric Hematology-Oncology fellowship at University of Chicago prior to joining MGUH in 2020. With my background in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, as well as a clinical focus on AYA patients and cancer survivorship during my fellowship, I am passionate about caring for cancer survivors of all ages and improving health outcomes. I am also a busy mom of three young boys and in my free time enjoy my time playing with them and watching them grow!
Stacy Bryant, PhD
I am the Program Manager for Dr. Kadan-Lottick's lab. I have a PhD in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated with a BA in Spanish from Macalester College. While my work experience includes both academic and corporate roles, in the middle I took time to do a stint with Peace Corps, serving as a health education volunteer (Mali, 2000-2001). I have a strong interest in improving cancer and health outcomes for all, especially as related to behavioral interventions that can reduce the risk of late effects from cancer treatment.
Yaiomy Santiago, MPH
I received a BS in Interdisciplinary Sciences with a Minor degree in Human Rights from the University of Puerto Rico ('21), and a Masters in Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology from George Washington University ('23). While pursuing my master's, I engaged in work aiming to improve HIV treatment and prevention services and enhancing continuity of care for disproportionately burdened populations. Soon after graduating, I joined Dr. Nina Kadan-Lottick's lab as a Clinical Research Coordinator, where I work on studies aiming to improve health outcomes among cancer survivors. I am passionate about health equity and chronic disease control and prevention and enjoy traveling, spending time with family, and trying out new food.
Hayleigh Armstrong, BS
I received a BS in Health Studies with an emphasis in Science from Boise State University. I have previous experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator on a Medical-Surgical Oncology Unit in Boise Idaho. I moved to Washington DC in December of 2023 and joined Dr. Nina Kadan-Lottick's Lab team as a Clinical Research Associate. I am excited to be a part of the team as we work to investigate ways to improve health outcomes and promote survivorship care for cancer survivors.
