GUAS

The Georgetown University Astronomical Society was formed in 1972 after Georgetown officially closed the graduate and undergraduate astronomy department. The club continues advocating for the preservation and restoration of the observatory. We also participate in research to uncover and highlight the history of astronomy at Georgetown and the people whose lives it touched.

The club hosts weekly meetings on Tuesdays from 8-10pm. Despite the heavy light pollution we face in the city, we have various stargazing activities depending on the season. Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and Orion's nebula are yearly highlights.

You can find out more about upcoming meetings and activities by joining our email list. Contact information can be found on the club's webpage.
