Thank you for your interest in this professional development opportunity offered by the Assessment and Evaluation Language Resource Center (AELRC) at Georgetown University.
As part of this course, we invite you to consider participating in a research study on how language teachers develop and use rubrics in classroom assessment. Your contribution will help us design more effective professional development opportunities for teachers in the future.
Please read the summary below to learn more, and click the link at the end of this section to review the full consent form and indicate your choice.
We want to better understand how language teachers develop and use rubrics so that we can make better professional development materials in the future. Your participation would be a big help to us as this topic doesn’t have much published research.
Participation in the study involves completing the course as usual, with no extra requirements. You may also be invited to a short, optional interview at the end of the course. Choosing whether or not to participate will not affect your course participation or standing in any way.
We will analyze data from the course, including your pre-course survey, any rubrics you design, and your evaluation of the course. If you decide to take part in the interview, your responses will be analyzed as well. All your data will be anonymized and your personal information will never be shared.
It’s no problem! You will participate in the course as planned and your decision to participate or not will have no bearing on your ability to take part fully in activities or your relationship with the facilitators.
