The 2026 Reading Challenge is inviting you to read books and investigate local and world events from the years that the school has been open. The school was officially opened in 1961 so there are 6 decades worth of books to explore and history to discover!
Tell us about the books you've read, or create a piece of art or writing about the decade and earn a stamp for your 'Read the Eras' loyalty card. Read and Reward points are available for each stamp and our favourite review or creative piece of work each term will also win a prize. Complete your card to earn an invite to the end of year 'Read the Eras Challenge' celebration.
In the library and on your year group classroom you will find lots of information and books to help you complete the challenge. Hand in any completed entries at the library, or share them electronically with Ms Stevens, to get your card stamped. Good luck and your journey through the GSA eras!
On the library calendar there will be a different genre and subject in the spotlight each month. There may also be additional activities where you can complete a reading challenge or take part in a library event to earn library Read and Reward points. These will be advertised in your year group google classroom and on this page or the competitions page.
Save up your library points and then cash them in for prizes when you have enough - see the points make prizes list for examples!
You can complete book reviews online ,or on Libresoft Librarian using your school account.
For Year 8 and above there is also the 100 Books Reading Challenge, speak to Ms Stevens about this if you'd like to take part.
