DEPARTMENT STUDENTS SELECTED FOR PRESTIGIOUS BERGEN SUMMER RESEARCH SCHOOL 2021
The Department of Geography is proud to announce that Doctoral researchers Shinjini Bhattacharjee and Maria Anne Fitzgerald have been selected to attend the annual Bergen Summer Research School (BSRS) 2021.
Shinjini Bhattacharjee has been accepted into the BSRS 2021 course ‘Internationalising Higher Education’. This course is designed for PhD students who are developing their careers as professors and University leaders and equips them with strategies for inter-institutional collaborations, such as exchange projects, joint programs, distance or online education consortia, and research partnerships. Maria Anne Fitzgerald will be attending the course ‘Inequality, intergenerational mobility and early childhood’ which examines the role of early childhood development in reproducing social inequality across different generations. The course focuses on the role of human capital investment and formation in understanding observer inequality in childhood and over the life cycle. Apart from their respective courses, they will also be attending a joint session ‘Systems thinking and creative interdisciplinary problem-solving and project management’ which seeks to facilitate inter-disciplinary collaboration.
