Message from Senior Leadership

Dear Parents,

My name is Temitope Olusayo and I am the Director of Learning for Key Stage 4. This year, our goal is to make sure that all our students reach their full potential and to achieve this, we need your maximum support. The main areas we are focusing on are attendance to school, punctuality to lessons and behaviour for learning.

Research shows that students who attend school regularly achieve at a higher level than students who do not have regular attendance. A missed school day is a lost opportunity for students to learn, develop and grow. So, I would like to encourage all our students to take attendance to school and punctuality to lessons very seriously. The minimum expectation for all our students at WSR is 98% attendance and we believe it is possible for them to even exceed this expectation by achieving 100% attendance, which is always celebrated and rewarded at the end of each term.

Also, we know that quality learning occurs when students feel that they are in a purposeful and peaceful environment. In order to create an exceptional classroom, where learning is encouraged and embraced, a behavioural expectation is required for all students. Behaviour for Learning (B4L) is a model we use at WSR to outline our behavioral expectation for students. For a child to be successful academically, it is very important they have a positive attitude towards learning, pay attention to their teachers, follow the basic classroom rules, bring out their notebooks and other learning equipment in readiness to learn, keep their bags at the back of the class or in their lockers, keep their devices away except otherwise instructed by the teacher and avoid anything that could cause distractions either to them or their class mates. We hope you will continue to support us in this pursuit of academic excellence by constantly reminding your children to always have the right attitude to learning and follow the school rules.

Finally, as this week was our student investiture ceremony, I would like to congratulate all our newly installed student leaders on their achievements and wish them success in all their endeavor this academic year.

Regards,

Temitope Olusayo
