Week Thirty Three - April 29th 2022
Kimberly Conlin
Dear Parents,
We would like to thank-you for your support during the Spirit of Ramadan activities. It has been such a special time at GIS to highlight acts of kindness throughout the month. We are approaching the Eid holiday and this year a whole week has been dedicated to celebrations. During this time, Muslims not only celebrate the end of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting but also thank Allah for the Quran, which was first revealed towards the end of Ramadan. We will all show respect and join in Eid celebration by wearing colourful clothing on our first day back to school, Monday May 9th.
Please take note of the return to regular school timings (posted below) following the Eid holiday.
ECA's will also return after Eid break. Please mark your calendar to sign up as the sign up for ECA's will be open starting Monday May 2nd at 4pm.
Finally, we ask for your support and 10 min of your time to support GIS with our Council of International Schools Accreditation. This only takes place once every 5 years. We must have more than half of our parent population take part in this survey to move forward with accreditation. The re-accreditation is important as whole school community to maintain the quality of an internationally accredited school. As you know, the parent voice is very important to us at GIS and in our view, the education of our children is done in partnership with parents.

The Arabic department have been celebrating achievements and watching our students flourish in their Arabic classes.
Through hands-on learning, students in our Kindergarten classes are enjoying exploring letters and sounds, while singing and dancing motivates them to learn new words and practice them with friends.
Through a robust Arabic curriculum, students are thriving and this is clear in the enthusiasm they show in their classes. Students are given the space to collaborate through conversation, written work and sharing texts together and through this focused approach, we are seeing positive results.
