Week Nine - November 1st, 2024
Dear Parents & Guardians,
I hope you had a restful and enjoyable mid-term break last week.
While it was a relatively short week for students, staff returned on Monday to a full day of professional development. The morning started with all staff coming together to explore potential barriers to learning, followed by a second workshop on unpacking rubrics. We are extremely lucky at GIS to have so many staff that are experts in various aspects of teaching and learning. This allowed us to offer thirteen different workshops for staff to choose from to enhance their skill set. I would like to thank those staff who embraced the learner profile attributes of risk taking and being knowledgeable, by offering to lead a workshop.
Also this week we held our first round of Parent Teacher Conferences for the year. I do hope that you and your sons and daughters gained some valuable feedback from teachers on how to move forward and build upon the work that has already taken place. The next formal school report will be released in December, so students have a matter of weeks to act upon any tips and advice they were given.
Finally, I would like to remind you that Week Without Wall sign ups for our international and residential trips close today. There are some amazing opportunities on offer for our students.
Attendance at a Week Without Walls trip is compulsory for all students in Grades 6 to 11, therefore, please register your son or daughter should you not have done so at this late stage. You can access information about all trips through our Week Without Walls website. Should you have any questions regarding the week, please do not hesitate to email Ms Emely, our Week Without Walls Coordinator.
Enjoy the week ahead
Kind regards
Ms Amanda
