Week Six - October 7th 2022
Dear PYP Parents,
Welcome to October!
A huge thank-you to our PYP teachers for the care and dedication given to parent teacher conferences. Thank-you to all the parents for partnering with us to ensure we provide the best education for our young learners.
This was a short week for students and we now head into a short midterm break. We trust that everyone will find a way to recharge after a busy start to the year. We will see you back to school on Wednesday October 12th.
The Prophet Muhammad's Birthday (Mawlid Al-Nabi) will be October 8th. Our Islamic department provided treats at the school entrances this past Tuesday for parents and students to enjoy. Please see below for some of the celebrations taking place in Islamic classes.
Enjoy the long weekend and mid term break.

Over the past few weeks, our Islamic team and students have worked hard to prepare for Prophet Muhammad's celebration (PBUH).
A few PYP students began the celebration with a competition, "BIL- ELMI WA-AL-QIYAMI NARTAQI" بالعلم والقيم نرتقي (With knowledge and values we grow), over the weekend at GEMS Modern Academy. Our students placed 2nd in the Quran competition and 3rd in an Islamic project competition.
As a school community, we were pleased to have this year's celebration on Tuesday, October 4, at GIS. We celebrated by wearing white, eating dates, enjoying Arabic coffee, listening to verses from the Quran, and hearing a song about the Prophet from our choir.
In Islamic classes, students watched and read a biography about Prophet Muhammad PBUH. Afterward, they had a Kahoot competition to check their understanding. Please check out this video if you want to learn more about Prophet Muhammad PBUH from our knowledgeable PYP students.
