Grades 6-12
Ensuring Additional Support for All Students.
This academic year we are launching a new support initiative for all students at GIS. Academic Priority is a system of academic support for students that they can access in addition to their regular classes across all departments.
Each department holds a session once a week. The exact timings and locations for each department can be found on the Academic Priority Schedule posted below. This is also available on ManageBac.
Academic priority is staffed by teachers from the departments, ensuring that students have access to the teachers they need. Any student who needs additional support, has a question or just wants to discuss a particular topic is welcome at Academic Priority. There are no fixed topics for a session. The teacher will provide support based on the individual student’s needs on a particular day.
In addition, teachers make themselves available to any student who needs support whenever possible. We are looking forward to the impact Academic Priority will have on our students progress and attainment.

Mawlid al-Nabi 2024, the celebration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), is observed by nearly two billion Muslims worldwide during the month of Rabi al-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar.
In many countries with a significant Muslim population, such as the UAE, this day is celebrated with devotion and love. It marks the birth anniversary of the founder of Islam and the recipient of the Holy Quran.
His teachings, Based on Love, mercy, kindness, mutual respect, personal worship, and inner peace, continue to inspire people worldwide.
Here at GIS, we celebrated this day with special decorations, student performances, coffee and treats in the reception areas, and a green dress-down, due to the famous green dome on the Prophet’s (PBUH) mosque in Madina, Saudia.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to our Muslim colleagues and community, on this special day wishing peace, goodness, and blessings for all.

In this fun and interactive experiment, students explored the curious question: "Does bubble gum gain weight as you chew it?" The investigation sparked curiosity among students as they weighed gum before and after chewing. The students formed hypotheses and recorded data to create bar graphs comparing the masses of the gum. The results surprised everyone and led to deeper questions about the ingredients in gum and what happens as we chew. The experiment not only uncovered fascinating findings but also helped students develop their research and analytical skills in a fun way
Grade 12
Grade 12 students are preparing for their first assessments of this academic year, which is a Paper 1, Productive Skills, Writing paper. To help them understand the conceptual understanding of a writing task, we reviewed essential writing conventions, including text types, register, audience, message and purpose. As part of their preparation, students worked collaboratively to prepare for their Paper 1 summative. They demonstrated excellent engagement and strong collaboration skills, actively discussing their ideas and showing open-mindedness. In their groups, they also developed strategies to ensure they respected the writing conventions while meeting the language, message, and format criteria.
