Week Thirty Five - June 28th, 2024
Dear Parents,
I was honoured to hand out certificates during two ceremonies this week and last – the Grade 5 and Grade 10 Completion Ceremonies. I would like to thank the students for their attitude throughout, supporting their friends, our staff for organizing such meaningful transition events, and our parents for attending in great numbers. Well done to all and good luck for the next stage!
This week has seen wonderful work in the Arts, along with a fascinating entrepreneurship programme created and rolled out to all Grade 8 students by Grade 9 student Ved N. Ved’s entrepreneurship ideas were adopted by all Grade 8 teachers and taught to the students for two periods a day. This is quite extraordinary and Ved deserved his Head of School’s Commendation from me!
My office will soon contain even more student artwork, thanks to our wonderful primary artists and sculptors. These G5 children came to explain their works to me and I am delighted that the pieces, based on inspiration from major artists, will soon be framed and on my walls.
Sport has also been recognized this week, with the Primary Sports Awards, and I thank Mr Jason and team for such a positive event. Whilst rewards for talent were on show, it was clear that GIS staff and students also value the dedication and hard work needed to excel, along with teamwork and support from parents and friends. Well done to all award recipients for focusing on sport, which is so beneficial to body and mind. To reflect this point, I am delighted to let you know that the new sports hall will be ready next term and will allow our sports and PE programmes to develop further.
Kind regards and have a wonderful weekend,
