Week Thirty Five - June 26th, 2025
Dear Parents & Guardians
This week at GIS has been nothing short of spectacular, full of creativity as we celebrated the many talents and achievements across our school community.
Arts Week continued to inspire and energise us with incredible Music Morning performances, showcasing the range and passion of our student musicians, and on the odd occasion, some of our staff too!
One of the most anticipated events, the Bobble Head Parade, was a huge hit, bringing joy, colour, and a little bit of good-natured wobble to both our Primary and Secondary students! Our Grade 10 Art students have been working on this project for many weeks as part of their final summative assessment. Such creativity!
We were also treated to the ever-popular GIS Has Talent 2025, brilliantly hosted by Ved and Khalid, who kept the show running with flair and confidence. A huge congratulations to Yalda, whose stunning combination of piano and vocals earned her first place, what an incredible performance! Well done to all students who participated in this year’s event. It was so entertaining!
Ved didn’t stop there, he also coordinated the Grade 8 Innovation Challenge, which was a testament to the forward-thinking, problem-solving mindset of our young innovators. Well done to all the students who participated and impressed with their fresh ideas and confident presentations.
The Tareeqi Art Exhibition was a truly special event this week, beautifully curated and led by Amber and Reyansh, who poured incredible effort and heart into every detail. Guests were treated to delicious snacks prepared by the students, captivating performances, and a gallery of expressive, thoughtful artwork that celebrated identity, creativity, and student voice. Their leadership and vision made the exhibition not only a celebration of the arts, but a celebration of what is possible when students are empowered to lead with purpose.
Another exciting highlight came from our First Lego League (FLL) team, who delivered their final pitch to members of Secondary leadership on Wednesday before heading Down Under next week to compete on the international stage. The level of preparation was truly exceptional, and the way the team collaborated and supported one another was a brilliant example of what student teamwork can achieve. We wish them the very best of luck and can’t wait to hear all about their experience upon their return.
Today, we marked a major milestone with the Grade 10 MYP Completion Ceremony. Congratulations to the Class of 2027, who have shown real dedication this year, not only through their academic progress but also through their thoughtful, reflective work on the Personal Project. Having just had their first experience in DP and CP classes, we’re excited to see them thrive as they embark on the final two years of their formal schooling journey.
As always, thank you to our students, staff, and families for your continued energy, creativity, and support. The end of year is only a matter of days away, but GIS is still buzzing with momentum!
Kind regards
Amanda Murphy
