Week Thirty Four - June 14th, 2024
We had another busy week at GIS! Primary school highlights this week include:
Student-Led Conferences: Held on Tuesday. A wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their learning and progress throughout the year. Thank-you for attending.
Visiting Leaders: We welcomed leaders from other GEMS schools into our classrooms on Wednesday and Thursday. They were impressed by our students' engagement and our innovative teaching methods.
Aladdin Production: The final product of our ECA for talented performers and singers in the primary school. Two evening performances (Thurs and Fri) showcase the hard work and determination of our budding artists. Highlights will appear in the newsletter next week. Congratulations to the Aladdin Cast and supporting teachers!
Step up Day: Next Friday, students will visit the grade they will be promoted to next year to build excitement and have questions answered. Parents will also receive some basic information for next academic year.
Enjoy your Eid holiday. School will be closed Monday and Tuesday with staff and students returning Wednesday June 19th. Eid Mubarak!
Safiya in Grade 3 participated in the rhythmic gymnastics Angels Cup and Du Gym Cup competition. Safiya performed two routines: a ball and a ribbon in the 2015 A+ category. In both routines and all around Safiya won the first place: three gold medals and a trophy. Congratulations!

Parental Involvement
This week’s student-led conferences were a wonderful opportunity for our children to share their experiences and actively involve parents in the learning process. We strongly encourage our parent community to participate as important stakeholders in their children’s education. An excellent example of this involvement is the Grade 1 parents launching our Unit of Inquiry on cultural celebrations. If you have any ideas on how you can support classroom learning based on the outlines shared by our teachers through Toddle, please get in touch! Your engagement is invaluable in enriching our students’ educational journey.

Connect Eds
Next week we will ask our parent community on feedback on the Connect Eds this academic year so we can inform planning for next academic year. Thank you to all those who participated in the sessions. We have really enjoyed learning with you all.
Parents have all received a notification to sign up for the Toddle platform. This is an exciting enhancement to our parent communication, and this year you will receive weekly updates through the Toddle platform.
This IB affiliated platform will offer opportunities for parents to remain up to date with their child's academic progress.
The below class pages will host resources for parents and will no longer have weekly messages. All information will be sent through Toddle, so please inform your class teacher if you have any trouble registering.
