Week Thirty One - May 25th, 2024
Dear Parents & Guardians
Firstly, I would like to express my deepest congratulations to our Grade 12 students who graduated yesterday! It was a truly heartwarming sight to see our students arrive at the Fairmont hotel, surrounded by their proud parents and family. The air was thick with emotion, as each face beamed with pride and joy.
Graduation is always a profoundly moving time for students, staff, and parents. It marks the culmination of many years of dedication, perseverance, and countless late nights spent striving for excellence. Yesterday, all that hard work was beautifully recognized and celebrated, as our students prepare to embark on new journeys to various locations and universities around the world.
Ludovica Mazzei, our Student Representative, delivered a speech that resonated deeply with everyone present. Her words were not only aspirational but perfectly encapsulated the spirit of this remarkable group. She spoke with a passion that reflected the dreams, challenges, and triumphs that have defined their journey.
Following the ceremony, there was a delightful gathering with canapés, where laughter mingled with tears, and stories were shared among friends and family. It was a moment to cherish, a pause to reflect on the incredible achievements and the bonds that have been formed over the years.
The Grade 12 celebrations actually started on Thursday with our annual Senior Walk! This tradition sees our oldest students parade through the school for one last time. All other students take to the corridors to clap and cheer them on as they stride past in their graduation attire. Symbolically walking out the front entrance for one last time, to be greeted by waiting parents.
The Class of 2024 celebrations will conclude tonight when our graduates will come together for one final time at their Prom. It promises to be a night filled with joy, celebration, and a touch of nostalgia, as they dance under the stars and create memories that will last a lifetime.
To each and every one of our graduates, I say: Well done. Your parents and teachers are beyond proud of your achievements. As you step forward into the future, carry with you the lessons, love, and memories from these cherished years. No matter where life takes you, know that you will always have a home here, and our hearts will forever hold a place for you.
While I thank all staff for their input into the lives of our graduating class, I would like to make a special mention of Ms Amanda Ennis, Ms Burcu, Mr Ged and Ms Meena for the incredible amount of time they have dedicated to the Class of 2024. Countless hours, many beyond the school day, have been generously given up by them to ensure that every one of our students is set up for success.
Besides Grade 12 events this week, our Grade 11 students hosted their TOK Exhibition; our Grade 11 Computer Science class were treated to a bespoke lecture from Dr Eleni Mangina from University College Dublin; and MAP and NGRT testing continued. To all staff involved in these events, I say thank you for enriching the experiences on offer to our students.
Have a wonderful week ahead.
Kind regards
Amanda Murphy
