Week Twenty Nine - May 10th, 2024
Grade 7
Our Grade 7 students have been diving into the wonders of nature through a fascinating exploration of land erosion. With hands-on experiments, they've been uncovering the secrets behind how our landscapes change over time. They tinkered with factors like rainfall, soil types, and slope angles to see how they affect erosion. It was like being scientists in our own backyard!
The most exciting part was watching how water reshapes the land. As they simulated rain, students saw tiny rivers form and carry soil away. It was a vivid demonstration of how water can carve valleys and shape mountains over time. They also learned about the role of plants in preventing erosion. By adding vegetation to their setups, they saw how plant roots hold soil in place, stopping erosion in its tracks.
Beyond just science, this project taught teamwork, problem-solving, and a deeper appreciation for our environment. Our students are not just learning about the world and they're becoming stewards of it.
A big thank you to our students for their hard work!
Grade 10
We had the pleasure of having Mr. Simon join our class. Our group has been preparing for grade 11 by taking a deeper look at ethical dilemmas. By preparing students to think critically, analyze different perspectives, and communicate respectfully, students will be more prepared for CP and DP, and for communicating clearly as conflicts arise. Thanks Mr. Simon for being part of our group.
