Week Twenty Seven - April 25th, 2025
Dear Parents & Guardians
Welcome to another wonderful week at GIS, and what a week it was!
Let’s start with the well deserved standing ovation for the annual school production of Peter Pan Jr. It was a magical performance that had the audience captivated from the opening song! The dedication of the cast and crew in preparing for this show was nothing short of inspiring. From months of rehearsals to the final curtain call, their commitment, energy, and passion lit up the stage. It’s truly heartening to see our budding artists grow and flourish year after year, each production a testament to their talent and the creative spirit that thrives in our school. Huge thanks to the dream team behind the scenes: Ms Emma, Ms Irasa, Ms Verity, Ms Sam, Ms Laurie, Mr Conor and of course our facilities and support staff! Your vision and support helped our students shine like the stars they are!
We also celebrated World Book Day, where the halls were alive with literary flair. A special shoutout to our English Department and Ms Romien, who absolutely owned her look as Cruella Deville, thankfully without the Dalmatians. Thank you to all the students and staff who joined in to celebrate the joy of reading.
April 22 marked Earth Day, and our community stepped up once again. Classrooms and offices across campus went dark for one hour as part of our energy-saving initiative, a small act with a powerful message. We’re also excited to be part of the Sharaf DG e-Waste Campaign. Watch this space for details on how you can get involved and help us power forward on our journey toward sustainability.
Finally this week, I am incredibly happy to recognise that Huda Khorsheed (G12F) has been elected as the Representative for the Class of 2025. This role is not only a mark of recognition from her peers but a reflection of the trust they have in her ability to lead with integrity and heart. Huda has already played a central role in shaping the senior experience, her leadership, sense of inclusivity, and unwavering commitment to community have been evident in the planning of key events and initiatives. She leads by example, listens with empathy, and makes everyone feel seen and heard. Congratulations, Huda, this is so well deserved.
Enjoy the week ahead.
Kind regards
Amanda Murphy
