Week Twenty Six - April 18th, 2025
Dear Primary Parents,
We have a number of exciting events coming up next week and beyond, and we wanted to share a few key reminders with you.
📚 Book Week is Next Week!
We are looking forward to a wonderful celebration of reading during Book Week. A highlight of the week will be our Character Dress-Up Day on Wednesday, April 23, when students are invited to come to school dressed as their favorite book character. We can't wait to see the creativity and enthusiasm our students bring to this fun day!
🌍 Early Earth Day Celebration
We will be celebrating Earth Day with a Low-Power Hour, encouraging students to reflect on the importance of sustainability. Our amazing Student Eco Champions have been hard at work creating optional learning opportunities for students across the Primary School. We will also welcome guest speakers and explore ways we can all contribute to a more sustainable future.
👒 Sun Safety Reminder – Hats On!
As the temperatures continue to rise, a reminder that from Monday, April 21, it is mandatory for all children to wear a hat during outdoor play. Please ensure your child brings a clearly labeled hat to school each day so they can enjoy playtime safely in the sun. If children do not bring a hat to school they will be directed to play in the shade for safety, thus limiting some of their choice during play time.
📝 Upcoming External Assessments
Our external assessments will begin in the last week of April and run through June, carefully spaced out to support student well-being and success. These assessments help us gather valuable data to inform learning and teaching across the school. Please see the letter linked below for more detailed information about the upcoming assessments for each year level.
📅 Save the Date – Student-Led Conferences (SLCs) on May 15
Please mark your calendars for Thursday, May 15, when we will host our annual Student-Led Conferences. This is not a regular school day for students. Instead, children will accompany their parents to school at a scheduled time to share their learning throughout the year. More information will be shared as the date approaches, but you can see an exciting addition to the day that we hope you and your family will enjoy.
During SLCs we will also transform the front reception into a space where you and your family could host a picnic, Slices Cafe will be open or you can bring a blanket and treats from home. This #FamilyFirst initiative is a nice way to pass the time between conferences or even before mom or dad head back to work!
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
Warm regards,
Sarah Mclean
🏆 Congratulations, Maciej – Middle East Cup Champion! 🏁
We’re incredibly proud of Maciej, who has once again shown remarkable skill and determination by winning the Middle East Cup at the Sharjah Kart Track! Despite facing tough challenges and technical issues during Saturday’s race, Maciej pushed through and still managed to finish second. On Sunday, he gave it everything he had—navigating strong winds, sandy tracks, and slippery conditions like a true champion! His love for racing and talent for handling tricky tracks helped him secure first place and earn the overall championship title. Well done, Maciej!
🏅 Alisa Shines at International Synchronized Swimming Championship! 🌊
A big congratulations to Alisa Markova (KG2F) for her incredible achievement at the Dubai International Aquatics Championship this past weekend! Alisa competed in synchronized swimming and proudly brought home both gold and silver medals.
This was her very first international championship, and she impressed everyone by performing her solo programme with grace and confidence. Well done, Alisa!
