Week Twenty Five - April 11th, 2025
Dear Parents,
I sincerely hope that you had a good Spring Break and enjoyed time with your families. We were welcomed back to GIS on Monday by our Islamic teams, who had prepared the Eid al-Fitr celebrations, which mark the end of Ramadan. This was a lovely way to start the new term - thank you to all involved.
A staff versus students cricket match took place on Thursday. I hear that both teams batted well and scores of 170 and 111 were reached. I shall not say who won, but the organiser, Mr Sujay, left with a smile on his face! Well done to all.
This week we had a visit from St. George’s University, Grenada. They are very interested in our pre-med programme and this could be another amazing partnership for GIS. Please see Ms Amanda’s newsletter for more details.
Finally, I would like to say how impressed I have been this week by so many students. When walking through the school, I have noticed students helping others, organising activities, managing assemblies, working hard in classrooms and living up to the culture of Respect, Trust and Ambition. Well done to all and my thanks to the teachers for ensuring a strong start to the term too.
Kind regards and have a good weekend,
Update – Spring Carnival Cancelled
Kindly note that our Spring Carnival will not be taking place this year. This decision was made based on the feedback from our recent community survey, which indicated there wasn't sufficient interest to support the event at this time.
The Country Ambassador program was launched in 2021 with the intention of helping connect families with their motherland tongue and country. Small community sub groups have been created to help integrate new families from these specific countries as they enroll at GIS. We encourage you to join your country group via the QR code.
Although as a whole, we are one big family, it’s always nice to connect with those from our country. Ultimately, the goal is to have at least ONE representative for each country.
If you see that your country or ambassador is not listed and you are interested in representing your country, please reach out to us via email at gispa@gemsisak.com
Our Iranian, Egyptian and Latino parents have already started to welcome returning and new parents on a nice breakfast gathering.
We encourage all GIS communities to get together and keep us posted.
GIS house color t-shirts and swim wear will be available to purchase from threads.

Kind reminder to ensure students accounts have enough credit loaded so they do not face issues purchasing food.
