Week Twenty Five - April 11th, 2025
Dear Parents & Guardians
We were delighted to welcome our students back this week after the Spring and Eid Al Fitr break, refreshed, recharged and ready for an exciting Term 3. A very warm welcome as well to all new families who have joined this term. We are delighted to welcome you to the GIS community.
The week commenced with an Eid Al Fitr celebration on Monday, where students and staff enjoyed music, delicious treats, and a relaxed opportunity to reconnect. It was a lovely way to ease into the term and reflect on the values of gratitude, community, and togetherness.
Also on Monday, our aspiring medics in Grades 10 and 11 spent time with Dr Harshini, Dr. Gaurov, Mr Abdallah and Ms Henah from St George’s University (Granada) who visited our campus and led a hands-on suture workshop. Students practiced surgical stitching techniques and gained insight into careers in medicine, definitely a highlight for those dreaming of a future in healthcare!
Meanwhile, our Grade 9 students led a thought-provoking assembly about careers, showcasing their collaboration, leadership and creativity. They explored the many pathways available to them, and shared insights into the skills and ambitions required to shape their future aspirations.
Finally, I would like to remind families that Scholarship applications close today, so if you’re planning to apply, please ensure all documents are submitted by the end of the day. These opportunities are highly competitive and can provide valuable support for your child’s academic journey. Additionally, re-enrolment for the 2025–26 academic year is now open. To secure your child’s place for next year, we strongly encourage families to complete the re-enrolment process as early as possible.
Here’s to a successful and inspiring final term!
Kind regards
Amanda Murphy
