Week Twenty Two - March 1st, 2024
Dear Parents,
What a week it has been for the community!
Last Friday saw the most enjoyable International Day I have been privileged to attend. I am extremely grateful to our GISPA and all our families who were there to make the day special, especially those running stalls. We had an incredible 51 countries represented by stalls – if your country was not, you have a challenge for next year!
Many people told me how much they enjoyed it and what a wonderful, respectful and positive atmosphere there was throughout. The country stalls were amazing, all the students had fun, and our whole community was delighted to be together again!
On Monday morning, we recognized Hag Al Laila (‘For this Night’), which is specific to the UAE and was a delightful way to start the week. I enjoyed a strong coffee and managed to avoid too many sweets! My thanks to our Emirati staff for organizing this.
Our Friday ‘music mornings’ continued this week and I thank all the students who performed and gave us a bounce in our step at the beginning of the day. I didn’t expect to hear Eric Clapton guitaring!
I had the pleasure of touring some current parents around our newest facilities and I invite anyone of our current parents who would like to see our newest incredible facilities, to join a tour with me – again, please let Ms Helen know (pre_gis@gemsedu,com). Here you can see our parents enjoying the Primary Hub and Center of Excellence and new Space Lab, guided by the creative talents of Mr Javier and Mr Vikas. These are absolutely cutting-edge facilities which will allow our students to use their full creativity and have portfolios which shine, as should happen in the best schools in the world.
On the subject of student creativity, I am so looking forward to seeing Matilda the Musical Jr next week and hope to see many of you there. The preparation by the talented crew and cast has been amazing and I can’t wait to see the performance.
Finally, thank you to the families who have secured places for your children next year by re-enrolling. Please do contact our admissions or front of house teams or our Parent Relation Executive (Ms Helen) to secure your place. Many year groups are filling rapidly!
Kind regards and have a good weekend,
Family First
A big thank you goes out to our GIS families who joined us for International Day last week. It was heartwarming to witness not only our students and parents but also other family members showing their support for our school events.
