Week Seventeen - January 24th, 2024
Sarah McLean
Head of Primary
Dear Primary Families,
We hope this message finds you well and that you enjoyed last week’s vibrant LitFest! The event was filled with creativity and excitement. Please take a moment to look at the pictures below to see some of the fun we had.
As you know, G1-5 students have been completing their NGRT assessments this week. Teachers will update parents about their child's progress during the upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTCs) on Feb 6-7. You should have received an email with a link to sign up for PTCs on these days. Please note all conferences are on campus and face to face; however, if you cannot join in person, you may email the teacher(s) you are meeting to set a virtual conference during the time slot you sign up for.
We would also like to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the winners of the recent Qur’an Competition with 65 schools from all around the UAE. Congratulations to Mashal Khan and Omar Kandeel! Their hard work, dedication, and outstanding performances were truly inspiring. We are so proud of their achievements!
Thank you to the G1 parents who attended the G1 Community Potluck last Friday, we hosted KG2 this morning! It is so lovely to have the opportunity to connect as a community.
A reminder that school pictures are scheduled for next week. If you are unsure of your child’s designated picture day, please contact their homeroom teacher for clarification. On picture day, all students must wear their full school uniform to ensure a consistent and polished appearance (please look at the poster)
Finally, I kindly remind parents of our designated pick-up and drop-off timings:
Morning drop-off: 7:50 AM – 8:10 AM
Afternoon pick-up: 3:15 PM – 3:25 PM (*3:05 for early years)
Please note that students may not use the playgrounds, sports fields, or other facilities after 3:25 PM. All students must either leave campus with a parent or guardian or wait in the canteen until they are collected.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support in making our school a safe and enriching environment for all.
Warm regards,
Sarah Mclean
Immerse yourself in reading, was the theme of this year’s PYP Lit Fest. Classes started each day with D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) and a read aloud read by one of our leaders! BINGO cards encouraged grades 2-5 to read across the genres, and try out new book types. We enjoyed a book fair, author visits, mystery readers and a reading picnic to finalize the week!

Exciting news!
Last term the Falcon Book Club ECA created a story book in a box, out of recycled materials, for the annual Emirates Festival of Literature Arcadia Book in a Box, a primary school competition. Jack and the beanstalk was the story chosen by the group, who spent many hours collecting suitable recycled materials, designing and creating their artwork. Images and an explanation were sent in to the Literature Foundation with the result that the Falcon book club’s creation has been shortlisted! Prize-giving will take place on Friday 31 January at the Festival of Literature.
Congratulations to the following students involved: Yara Mesak 4D, Serina Wahib 4D, Aria Raheja 4G, Alisa Tyureva 4D, Kiaan Ruthia 5A, Kden Krishnan 5A and Shatakshi Anand 5A.
Parents have all received a notification to sign up for the Toddle platform. This is an exciting enhancement to our parent communication, and this year you will receive weekly updates through the Toddle platform.
This IB affiliated platform will offer opportunities for parents to remain up to date with their child's academic progress.
The below class pages will host resources for parents and will no longer have weekly messages. All information will be sent through Toddle, so please inform your class teacher if you have any trouble registering.
