Week Nineteen - February 2nd, 2024
Dear Parents & Guardians,
I must start this week by congratulating our Grade 10 students for the amazing work they put on show in the annual Personal Project Exhibition. I, and other staff, were in awe at the quality of the creations, the creative and innovative ideas and the vastly different projects on display. But more so, the mature and knowledgeable conversations I had with students, who were clearly so passionate and invested in their project, were so satisfying to experience. This year we ensured that parents were provided ample time to view the Exhibition by hosting a VIP opening in the evening, which was well received. My heartfelt thanks to Ms Sangita (Personal Project Coordinator) and all the supervisors who supported and offered guidance from the side. Congratulations Grade 10’s.
With a sense of relief, our Grade 12 students wrapped up their final Trial Exams today. For the last two weeks, students have been sitting papers that allow them to demonstrate their knowledge in their various subjects. The IB World Exams commence in the mid-April, so the Trial exams are a valuable tool that allow students to see where they need to dedicate their focus in coming weeks.
Congratulations to Manya Singh who was presented with the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Award at our Grade 11 assembly this week. Manya, StuELT President, embodies the traits of her Highness Sheikha Fatima, and is a very worthy recipient this year. Congratulations Manya!
Finally, I would like to wish all of our Week Without Walls travelers, safe travels. Our first international trip departs in the very early hours of tomorrow morning and we hope they have a wonderful time. Other international and residential trips leave in coming days, and we are confident our students will have amazing experiences. Students remaining at school next week, have also been contacted regarding their activities and plans for the busy week that is Week Without Walls. Thank you to Mr Jason and to all Trip leads for taking on the responsibility that goes with organizing such trips.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Kind regards
Amanda Murphy
