Week Sixteen- January 6th 2023
Dear Parents,
It has been wonderful to see the students return to GIS after the break. Students and staff have been busy this week as the new term has got underway at a fast pace.
On Thursday, we celebrated UN Arabic World Language Day. Our Arabic staff welcomed students and parents to the school with edible and musical treats, and our Primary students enjoyed a variety of well-conceived games to enhance their knowledge of the language, calligraphy and alphabet. My thanks to Mr Magid and all involved.
We are always proud when one of our teachers writes an article or speaks on a podcast that is published more broadly and this week we have two! We say well done to Ms Niamh, our Primary School SENCo, for the following article on ‘Neurodiversity and Birthdays’ in Mother, Baby and Child magazine, and to Ms Sandy for her podcast for the GEMS ‘School of Thought’ focused on IB insights.
Finally, thank you to Secondary students for inviting me to their ‘Expo’ on Thursday. In just a few days, many exciting ideas and possibilities have been proposed, from our Future Skills Academy (more on that later), a cheerleading group, through to mentoring service activities, life skills and a weekly book club.
Kind regards and have a good weekend,
Simon Herbert

Students are expected to wear full GIS uniform, as usual. Students who have PHE on the day that is scheduled for them to have their photo taken should wear their uniform to school and pack their PHE kit to change into.
