Week Sixteen - January 17th, 2024
Dear Parents & Guardians,
What an eventful and inspiring week it has been in Secondary School! Our students have come together to celebrate creativity, collaboration, and academic exploration, and we’re excited to share the highlights with you.
This week, our annual LitFest brought literature to life with an exciting lineup of activities. We were delighted to welcome Malar Balaji, the Founder of MyBooktopia, onto our campus. Ms Malar inspired our Grade 6 students with her stories and experiences when she addressed them on Thursday. Across the Secondary School, Homeroom activities fostered creativity and critical thinking, as students engaged in workshops and storytelling sessions. The festival culminated in a remarkable TEDx event on Friday morning, where our students shared thought-provoking ideas, leaving everyone inspired and energized. Congratulations to all of our speakers who are listed below. The quality of the talks were outstanding and we are so proud of you all!
Iman Faiz: Redefining Happiness in an Avaricious World"
Heba Elalawi: The underuse of "why" in this generation
Maitreyi Singh: The importance of scientific breakthroughs
Anoushae Shah: Overcoming fear
Zaineb Zouaoui: Unlocking Hidden Potential
Ved Nakhwa: Why do they even matter?
A big thank you to our Grade 11 students, who organized, with the assistance Mr Ged and Ms Victoria, an insightful and engaging Subject Fair for the Grade 10 cohort. This event provided students with valuable information about subject choices for next year, helping them to make informed decisions about their academic pathways. To coincide with the Fair, a copy of the Class of 2027 Handbook was made available through ManageBac for all Grade 10 students. Families are asked to please pay particular attention to the Transition Timeline on Page 8.
Finally, we extend our best wishes to our U19 football and basketball teams as they prepare for their upcoming GAAC trip to Doha next week. We are proud of their hard work and dedication and look forward to cheering them on, from a distance, as they represent our school with pride and determination. Well done to and thank you to the coaches who have worked tirelessly to prepare the teams for this competition.
I look forward to sharing updates in next week's newsletter.
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable week ahead!
Kind regards
Ms Amanda
Head of Secondary School
