Week Thirteen - November 29th, 2024
Dear Parents,
I hope that you are well.
On Monday we celebrated عيد الاتحاد Eid Al Etihad. This was a wonderful occasion, with traditional music, culinary treats, dances from students, speeches and even a visit from esteemed police leaders. Ms Alyazia, Ms Hind, Ms Amna, Ms Noorah, Ms Wafaa, Mr Magid, Ms Tasnim and our facilities team deserve special mention for their organization and I would like to thank all involved in the preparations.
This week our students in Primary and Secondary enjoyed sports days. The events were well organized and a lot of fun, and even included parents’ sack races! My thanks to the sports departments for their hard work and my commendations to all the worthy winners.
I managed to see two impressive assemblies this week. The first, from Grade 4 and 5 students, was in Arabic and referenced the story of Aladdin. This brought the language to life and was so well constructed. Well done to all and thank you to our Primary Arabic team. The second assembly, for Grade 2 and 3 students, had the theme ‘Being Non-Judgemental’. Ms Titi and Ms Rose put this this message across successfully to our younger students, and finished with a video which reinforced the message through the use of flowers in a garden. If any parent would like to see that video, I am sure Ms Rose or Ms Titi can assist.
Finally, the ‘Pot Luck’ event this week was for Grade 4 parents and I enjoyed all the culinary delights! My thanks to Ms Sharon and the Grade 4 team for organizing this.
Kind regards and have a good weekend,

Dear Parents,
It's that time of the year again, where we come together to celebrate and showcase the incredible diversity of our community! Whether it’s through food, geography, tourism, or traditional costumes, we are excited to see how you represent your country’s treasures this year.
We are thrilled to announce that this year’s International Day has been renamed World Cultures Day. This new title reflects our school’s commitment to fostering a sense of belonging and inclusivity as we celebrate the rich traditions, cuisines, and customs of all the unique cultures in our school family.

We can’t wait to see your wonderful contributions and make this event a memorable celebration for everyone!
The Country Ambassador program was launched in 2021 with the intention of helping connect families with their motherland tongue and country. Small community sub groups have been created to help integrate new families from these specific countries as they enroll at GIS. We encourage you to join your country group via the QR code.
Although as a whole, we are one big family, it’s always nice to connect with those from our country. Ultimately, the goal is to have at least ONE representative for each country.
If you see that your country or ambassador is not listed and you are interested in representing your country, please reach out to us via email at gispa@gemsisak.com
Our Iranian, Egyptian and Latino parents have already started to welcome returning and new parents on a nice breakfast gathering.
We encourage all GIS communities to get together and keep us posted.
