Sarah McLean
Head of Primary
Dear Primary Parents,
We hope this message finds you well! It has been another exciting and productive week at school, and we are thrilled to share some highlights with you.
Firstly, our Interhouse Competitions continue to be a fantastic success! The energy and teamwork displayed by the students were truly inspiring. A big thank you to our dedicated PE Teams for coordinating the 30x30 activities and keeping everyone active and engaged throughout the Dubai 30x30 Fitness Challenge.
I want to also extend a heartfelt thanks to the parents and facilities team involved in our Festival of Lights celebration. Your efforts helped create a warm, festive atmosphere that our school community thoroughly enjoyed! It was a beautiful morning.
Looking ahead, we will be sending home the Beginning of Year Updates Reports on 18th November. These will be shared via the GEMSConnect App, and feel free to reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher with any questions you may have.
A few important reminders about day-to-day operations at GIS and upcoming events:
Parent Lanyards must be worn at all times on campus: Please wear your lanyard at all times on campus. For quick entry, bring your yellow lanyard to avoid any delays at the entrance.
Early Years Playground and Classroom Access ends at 3:30: Kindly exit the Early Years playground area by 3:30 pm. The doors will lock at this time; therefore, students and parents must be off the playground at that time. Please also remember that parents and students are not permitted to enter classrooms after dismissal.
Grade 5 Parents save the date for our first Grade Level Potluck on November 22 in the GF Canteen. More details will be shared!
Lastly, I'd like to congratulate Cady (G3D) and Kinda (G5D) Ashour on their 3rd and 2nd place wins at the Dubai School Games Rhythmic Gymnastics competition representing GIS! We would also like to congratulate Kamillia (KG2) who achieved an incredible milestone, winning a silver medal and taking 2nd place at the Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Championship.Great Job all of you, we are proud of you!
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation. We look forward to another wonderful week ahead!
Warm regards,
Sarah McLean
Parents have all received a notification to sign up for the Toddle platform. This is an exciting enhancement to our parent communication, and this year you will receive weekly updates through the Toddle platform.
This IB affiliated platform will offer opportunities for parents to remain up to date with their child's academic progress.
The below class pages will host resources for parents and will no longer have weekly messages. All information will be sent through Toddle, so please inform your class teacher if you have any trouble registering.
Any absence (whether it is planned or unplanned ) must be communicated via email to the homeroom teacher and gis_primaryleaverequest@gemsedu.com by 8:00 AM. STS/bus users must also copy the STS manger on the email. vijesh.kumar@sts-group.com
A planned or extended absence beyond 2 days requires the completion of an absence request form.
Absence for more than 3 days requires prior approval if planned or a doctors clearance for illness related leave (in some cases a medical certificate is requested )
Parents are urged to schedule medical, dental and other appointments after school hours or during vacations.
A request must be submitted before a child can be released once in school for health and safety and reasons.
Filling in the form 24hrs in advance is expected where possible.
At the time of collection, please come to the Primary Reception at Gate 4.
