The School Story and Class Story automatically populates on the main screen of the app and the website. Important information will be posted here as well as photos showing what goes on during the day. Please check the Story frequently so you do not miss out on important announcements.
Click on your child's monster icon to "view their report." Here is where you will find out how their behavior is stacking up during the day. Make sure you acknowledge your child for successful days and for showing improvement; it is hard for a student to lose a point and then turn it around later in the day and earn points.
Please note: teachers give a verbal warning before taking away any points. They also try to add a comment or message you separately to explain the negative point, as often as possible. However, some days are busier than others and they don't always get a chance to add a message.
If you have questions about positive and negative points given at Gem Prep, please refer to the Culture Guide linked below.
Messaging your child's teacher in Class Dojo is the #1 way to contact them. Teachers try to return your message as quickly as possible, however, if you do not get a reply after 2 days, please send a kind reminder to the teacher. All after school transportation changes must be sent to the teacher prior to 2:30, earlier if possible, otherwise we can not guarantee that the message will be received in time.
If you have multiple children attending Gem Prep, please make sure you are messaging each child's teacher.
To do this, please make sure your are looking for the teacher's name that is paired with that child's name. You will see ALL teachers listed because we have all teachers and partner teachers connected to every class in order to provide more opportunities for scholars to get recognition throughout the day.
(If you message child #1's teacher through Child #2's account, it does not go directly to child #1's teacher. These messages are sometimes not found for several days.)
The portfolio is a chance for teachers to upload important documents that are specific to each child. It might also be a place where teachers can share some of the amazing creations scholars have been working on.

Push notifications are sent through on your phone, if you have the app. These notifications push through for messages, an addition to a portfolio and Story updates.
Emails will be sent when a post has been made to School or Class story.
