Student Canvas Accounts
All students log into their Canvas via the Clever website. Clever takes the students directly to the unique link and automatically signs them in. **Parents cannot sign up for Canvas through this link, there is a separate link for parents to sign up listed below.

Gem Prep has our own unique Canvas domain for all students, parents and teachers. It is important to use only this link when signing up or logging in to your observer accounts. Pairing Codes
Pairing Codes
You will need a unique pairing code that is connected to your child's Canvas account. You can get this code from your child's teacher. Please note: all codes expire after 7 days. Please request a new code from your child's teacher if your code is older than 7 days, or does not work.

Observing Multiple Children
Observing Multiple Children
You can observe all of your children under one observer account on Canvas. To do this, you must first set up your account with one child's pairing code. This must be done on the website linked above (the app doesn't always work for initial set up of multiple children). Then follow the steps below:
- Click on Account in the top left corner
- A sidebar will appear, click on "Observing" at the bottom of the list
- A new page will load. At the top, you will see a box for Student Pairing Code, type in another child's pairing code in the box, then click +student

If multiple parents would like to observe their child's account, follow the same steps above for creating an account. Each parent must have their own unique pairing code that is connected with the student account. Contact your child's teacher for another code.

If you are using the correct link and your code is new, but you keep getting the "Invalid Pairing Code" message, please contact your child's teacher and request a new pairing code. After three attempts, if your code is still reading as invalid, please submit a support ticket to our tech department here: http://support.gemprep.org/support/home

Many parents have suggested bookmarking and using the website instead of the app. You can do this on all devices. Note: the website works best in "desktop" version on most phones.

There is also an app for parents to use on their personal devices. After exploring the app, many parents recommend only using the website, and completely deleting the app off of their phones. However, once you are more familiar with Canvas and how your child is performing, it may work for some of you. If you choose to use the app, please register your account and add any children you are observing on the website first. ** Be careful when downloading, there is also a student app and a teacher app. Be sure you download the Canvas Parent app in blue.
App pros:
- You can quickly see Alerts which include missing assignments and announcement
- You can see a weekly breakdown of what is due each week
App cons:
- You cannot see your child's overall grades
- You cannot change notification preferences or successfully add more children to your account
- You cannot see the full assignment, only a description in most cases
