Pre-apprenticeship program by successfully completing three years of GEHRHSD carpentry courses and then partnering with the carpenters' union

The Course Sequence
1)Woodworking
2) Residential Carpentry
3) Honors Commercial Carpentry
1. Woodworking- Introductory course in wood technology and wood working. It provides students with knowledge and skills for safe work habits, proper use of equipment and attention to detail.
2. Residential Carpentry- This second level course will build student proficiency in assembling and installing various types of residential construction components.
3. Honors Commercial Carpentry- This course leads to successful transition into post secondary education for careers in carpentry and related fields such as construction management, architecture and others.
The Pathway Mission
Students who successfully complete three years of the GEHRHSD carpentry courses listed above have a direct pathway into the carpenters’ union’s full apprenticeship program. Completion of this program and acceptance into the union, is equivalent to one year of the four-year Apprenticeship program. For union membership, in addition to the required course work, students must pass a skills test, pass a drug screening and physical requirement assessment.
Apprenticeship Program
Students earning Career Connections Certificates and accepted into one of the apprenticeships programs participating in this agreement may obtain up to 1-year credit with 3 Career Connection Certificates. All advance credit for placement will be determined by Northeast Carpenters Apprenticeship Fund. The student must meet apprenticeship eligibility criteria and be accepted into the program before any review of skills and award of advanced standing will take place.
