Joining a Google Educator Group (GEG) is free and open to all educators, including teachers, principals, and school administrators. Follow these steps to find and join a community:
Find a Local Chapter: Visit the official Google Educators Groups page and use the "Find a community near you" map to search for your city or region.
Join the Group: Once you find a local GEG, click on its pin to find its specific Google Group, website, or social media page. You can typically join by clicking "Join group" on their Google Groups page or requesting access if it is private.
Explore Virtual Options: If there is no local group in your area, you can join the Global GEG Online Community or groups labeled "Global" or "Online" to participate in virtual meetups.
Engage with Leaders: If a group's website or page is inactive, you can often find leader information (such as Twitter handles) on their "About" page to reach out directly for joining details.
Create a Profile: You may also join by navigating to the Google for Education Community Platform, creating a profile, and selecting the "Google Educator Group" checkbox.
Before joining, it is recommended to review the GEG Code of Conduct to understand community expectations.
Join an existing GEG and speak to the GEG leadership. Find out how the GEG works and get to know the team. They can recommend to Google that you become a leader and you will be sent a form to fill in.
Alternatively, connect with your local Google team and discuss whether they would be able to support your application.
