Upcoming hosted events are usually posted in Slack and/or they're put on the 2024 Hosted Events sheet. Bookmark that sheet!
As events are added to the sheet and announced on Slack, if you're interested in an upcoming event, just add your name as a comment to the Host cell of that event. Like this:
Color codes on the Host slot:
Yellow: You can put your name in for it! The show's details have been confirmed. We'll let you know if you get it.
Orange: You can put your name in for it! Careful! The show's details are subject to change. We'll let you know if anything changes before we confirm you as the host.
Black: This isn't available yet. Check back later.
Any other colors with a host name already in the slot means that the event has been assigned to that host.
Basic courtesy on the sheet
DO NOT hit the checkmark in the comments.
You shouldn't have access to overwrite other host names but if you somehow got access, don't do that, please.
Feel free to put your name in for as many events as you'd like and are able to work. You won't get them all but we don't mind you asking.
How we assign events
We'll leave the event open for a reasonable amount of time. We understand that not everyone is at their laptops 24/7.
Feel free to sign up for as many events as you like and are able to work.
We love people who are passionate about the movie! If you hate "My Dinner with Andre," that is probably not the Movie Party for you.
We aim to give hosts enough work and keep assignments balanced for everyone.
You'll sometimes see events other than movie parties on Slack.
If we ask for hosts in Slack, just respond in a thread there.
Do you have more questions about how to get assigned to a specific party or event? General questions about movie party assignments? Hit us up at alamo@geekswhodrink.com.
