Grade 8 West Zone Rules and Regulations
Results should be emailed to the commissioner by the Home/Host Team. If a game needs to be rescheduled it is the responsibility of the coach and athletic director to inform the other school involved, officials and the commissioner as soon as possible.
The league will be organized depending on the number of teams.
Guidelines
Grade 8 is a participation-oriented year and teams should include as many players as possible; however, you are encouraged to create a strong competitive experience for your players.
It is strongly suggested that you play everyone equally for the first three quarters.
Development of players at the Grade 8 level is a priority.
While you are permitted to make cuts, it is encouraged to keep as many players as possible for future development.
Playing Time: While you are not mandated to provide all students with equal playing time at this level, most of your players should be given the opportunity to compete throughout the season, especially if your players are positively committed to team expectations. Factors that might influence decisions regarding playing include but are not limited to injury, illness, missed practices, poor attitude, poor attendance at school, low academic effort, ability, and school and team playing philosophies. Coaches can make school, team, personal team composition and playing time choices based on attendance, player attitude, ability, and academics.
Each team/coach is responsible to play within the spirit and intent of the Guidelines, Rules and Understandings. Positive and respectful sporting behaviour and fair play must be demonstrated at all times.
