GDS is a community of joyful, passionate, and engaged human beings. We hope to use the month of January to harness that energy and spirit and use it to infuse the beginning of 2021 with even more joy and can-do spirit.
To do this, we have two key themes we want to keep in mind during January. Read below for more information!
Joy (noun): a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.
Take a moment to think about one thing that brings you joy. It can be anything! Whatever it is, that feeling of joy that you felt is integral to creating long-lasting happiness in your life.
This January, we want the GDS community to have even more opportunities to experience joy. For many of us, the past year has been difficult and all of our routines have changed. Perhaps we even had to let go of some things that brought us joy. In 2021, we want to do things differently.
We want to create joy wherever we can in our community through daily reminders and weekly activities culminating in a community event at the end of January.
Can (verb): be able to
Take another moment to consider all that you are able to do. For starters, you can breathe, move your body in some way, and you are able to read this paragraph. How utterly amazing are you?
Throughout the month of January, you will have opportunities to showcase your unique can-do spirit through participating in our I Can Challenge.
As a community, we will bring literal meaning to our CAN-uary theme by facilitating a Food Drive for local organizations.
All in all, we hope that this theme helps to inspire you to remember all the greatness that lies within you.
