Gr. 2 Concert: 2/15/24

My country, 'tis of thee,

Sweet land of liberty,

Of thee I sing;

Land where my fathers died,

Land of the Pilgrim's pride,

From ev'ry mountainside let freedom ring!

Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate The Positive

1. You've got to ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive, eliminate the negative.

Latch on to the affirmative, don't mess with Mister In-between.

2. You've got to spread joy up to the maximum

Bring gloom down to the minimum.

Have faith or pandemonium liable to walk upon the scene.

3. To illustrate my last remark -

Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark.

What did they do just when everything looked so dark?

Man, they said we better

4. Ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive, eliminate the negative.

Latch on to the affirmative, don't mess with Mister In-between.

5. (Interlude)

6. To illustrate my last remark -

Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark.

What did they do just when everything looked so dark?

Man, they said we better

7. You've got to ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive, eliminate the negative.

Latch on to the affirmative, don't mess with Mister In-between.

No!  Don't mess with

Mister In-between.

Horsey, Horsey

1. Horsey, horsey on your way,

We've been together for many a day.

So let your tail go swish and your

Wheels go 'round

Giddyap! We're homeward bound.

2. I like to take a horse and buggy

When I go trav'ling to the town.

I like to hear old dobbins clip clop,

I like to feel the wheels go round.

Puff, The Magic Dragon

Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea

And frolicked in the autumn mist

In a land called Honali,

Little Jackie Paper loved that rascal Puff,

And brought him strings and sealing wax

And other fancy stuff.

Oh! Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea

And frolicked in the autumn mist

In a land called Honali,

Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea

And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honali.

Together they would travel on a boat with billowed sail

Jackie kept a lookout perched on Puff's gigantic tail,

Noble kings and princes would bow whene'er they came,

Pirate ships would lower their flags

When Puff roared out his name.

(Chorus)

A dragon lives forever but not so little boys

Painted wings and giant's rings make way for other toys.

One grey night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more

And Puff that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar.

His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain,

Puff no longer went to play, along the cherry lane.

Without his life-long friend, Puff could not be brave,

So Puff that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave. (Chorus)

Good Morning, Blues

1.  Good Morning, Blues

Blues how do you do? (2x)

I’m doin’ alright,

Good morning, how are you?

2.  Called yesterday,

Here you come today. (2x)

Your mouth’s wide open

But you don’t know what to say.

3.  Woke up this morning,

The blues walking ‘round my bed. (2x)

I couldn’t eat my breakfast

The blues was in my bread.

Lean On Me

1. Hum…

2.  Sometimes in our lives,

We all have pain

We all have sorrow

But if we are wise,

We know that there’s

Always tomorrow

3. Lean on me,

When you’re not strong

And I’ll be your friend

I’ll help you carry on

For it won’t be long,

‘Til I’m gonna need

Somebody to lean on

4.  Please swallow your pride

If I have things

You need to borrow

For no one can fill

Those of your needs

That you won’t let show

5.  You just call on me brother

When you need a hand

We all need somebody to lean on

I just might have a problem

That you’d understand

We all need somebody to lean on

(Sing 3. & 5.)

6.  Call me,

                                       (Call me)

      Call me,

       When you need a friend

                                   (Call me)

If You’ll Be M-I-N-E Mine

If you’ll be M-I-N-E mine,

I’ll be T-H-I-N-E thine,

And I’ll L-O-V-E love you

All the T-I-M-E time,

You are the B-E-S-T best

Of all the R-E-S-T rest,

And I’ll L-O-V-E love you

Valentine, my valentine.

If you should F-A-L-L fall

Off of a W-A-L-L wall,

I will S-A-V-E save you

When you C-A-L-L call,

You are the B-E-S-T best

Of all the R-E-S-T rest,

And I’ll L-O-V-E love you

Valentine, my valentine.

If you’re not T-R-U-E true

Then I’ll be B-L-U-E blue

We’ll be P-A-L-S pals

And stick like G-L-U-E glue,

You are the B-E-S-T best

Of all the R-E-S-T rest,

And I’ll L-O-V-E love you

Valentine, my valentine.

If you should S-L-I-P slip

And lose your G-R-I-P grip,

I will S-A-I-L sail to you

By S-H-I-P ship.

You are the B-E-S-T best

Of all the R-E-S-T rest,

And I’ll L-O-V-E love you

Valentine, my valentine.

Mardi Gras Mambo

Down in New Orleans

Where the blues was born,

It takes a cool cat to blow a horn.

On Lasalle and Rampart street,

The combo’s there

With the mambo beat.

It’s the Mardi Gras Mambo,

Mambo, mambo,

Mardi Gras Mambo,

Mambo, mambo

Mardi Gras Mambo-oh,

Down in New Orleans.

In Grey town where the cats all meet,

It’s Mardi Gras Mambo – with a beat.

They shout and cheer for the Zulu king

So truck on down

Where the mambo swings.

It’s the Mardi Gras Mambo,

Mambo, mambo,

Mardi Gras Mambo,

Mambo, mambo

Mardi Gras Mambo-oh,

Down in New Orleans.

Winter Wonderland

1. Sleigh bells ring, are you listenin'?

In the lane, snow is glist'nin',

A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight,

Walking in a winter wonderland!

2. Gone away is the bluebird,

Here to stay is a new bird,

He sings a love song, as we go along,

Walking in a winter wonderland!

3. In the meadow we can

Build a snowman,

Then pretend that he is Parson Brown.

He'll say, "Are you married?"

We'll say, "No man!

But you can do the job when

You're in town!"

4. Later on, we'll conspire,

As we dream by the fire,

To face unafraid,

The plans that we made,

Walking in a winter wonderland!

5. In the meadow we can

Build a snowman,

Then pretend that he is Parson Brown.

He'll say, "Are you married?"

We'll say, "No man!

But you can do the job when

You're in town!"

6. Later on, we'll conspire,

As we dream by the fire,

To face unafraid,

The plans that we made,

Walking in a winter wonderland!

Yes! Walking in a winter wonderland!

A turkey ran away, before Thanksgiving Day,

Said she, “You’ll make a roast out of me if I should stay.”

A crouton ran away, before Thanksgiving Day,

Said he, “You’ll make a stuffing out of me if I should stay.”

A corncob ran away, before Thanksgiving Day,

Said he, “You’ll make a bread out of me if I should stay.”

A potato ran away, before Thanksgiving Day,

Said he, “You’ll make a mash out of me if I should stay.”

A squash ran away, before Thanksgiving Day,

Said he, “You’ll make a squash out of me if I should stay.”

A pumpkin ran away, before Thanksgiving Day,

Said he, “You’ll make a pie out of me if I should stay.”
