Student Enrollment

The student population at Tiyan High School (THS) is both culturally and socio-economically diverse. School members highly regard values and skills such as accountability, diversity, innovation, problem solving, technology literacy, and sportsmanship. THS is one of six public high schools in the island. The school opened in the school year 2014-2015 to better serve students in the northern and central district. As a result of the redistricting plan, students from the municipalities of Barrigada, Barrigada Heights, Mongmong, Toto, Maite, Tiyan, Adelup, Anigua, Hagatna, Maina, Mogfog, Las Palmas, and Macheche comprise the new Tiyan school district.

About 1,100 high schoolers are enrolled, and 120 faculty and staff are employed at THS. Students are comprised primarily of Chamorros (Guam, Rota, Saipan, Tinian), other Pacific Islanders, and Filipinos, forming a large English as a Second Language (ESL) population, including many learners from neighboring islands and countries. The school's district's socioeconomic status has allowed all THS students to benefit from no-cost for all programs, such as the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program and 90% utilizing public school busing.
