Hafa Adai,

For this unique school year of 2020-2021,

Mr. Aromin will be your Social Studies teacher for TEAM 6A

Mr. Milan will be your Social Studies teacher for TEAM 6B and

Ms. Nucum will be your Social Studies teacher for TEAM 6C.

Despite the current situation, we are excited to teach all of you the history of different parts of the world. This website will be a way to inform you on what you'll be learning or if there is anything that you missed along the way in addition to your google classrooms or packets from Grab and Learn. As we start the school year, please read through the online and packet guidelines to prepare you for distance learning. We your teachers are all looking forward to teaching you this year. Hard Copy (Grab and Learn Packet Reminders)

-Please try and pick up packets on the designated times given by the school. If for any reason you cannot pick up on designated day, please contact your child's teacher and make an appointment.

-Complete all work and turn in on the due date (the following week when you pick up the next packet will also be the same day you turn in your previous week's homework.

-Worksheets must be turned in in the same folder they came with.

-Please try and keep worksheets in fair condition upon return. Use pencil or blue and black ink only.

Identify the early development of humankind from the Paleolithic Era to the agricultural revolution based on hunter gatherer societies’ environments, characteristics including their use of tools and fire, and technological and social advancement that gave rise to stable communities

GDOE Standard 6.2.7 (2nd Quarter)

Describe ancient river valley civilizations from Mesopotamia, Egypt, and the civilizations of the Hebrews,Phoenicians, and Nubians with emphasis on each civilization’s 1) time and place, 2) development of social, political, and economic patterns, including slavery, 3) development of religious traditions, 4)the origins, beliefs, traditions, customs, and spread of Judaism; and 5) the development of language and writing.


Ancient India & China

GDOE Standard 6.2.7 (3rd Quarter)

Describe ancient river valley civilizations of the Indus River Valley and China with emphasis on each civilization’s 1) time and place, 2) development of social, political, and economic patterns, including slavery, 3) development of religious traditions, 4)the origins, beliefs, traditions, customs, and spread of Judaism; and 5) the development of language and writing.


GDOE Standard 6.2.9 (4th Quarter)

Discuss how ancient Greece influenced Western Civilization based on 1) mythology and religion, 2) the social structure and role of slavery, 3) the significance of citizenship and the development of democracy, 3) the significance of the Persian and Peloponnesian wars, 4) life in Athens during the Golden Age of Pericles, 5) contributions in drama, poetry, history, sculpture, architecture, science, mathematics, and philosophy, with emphasis on Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, and 6) the conquest of Greece by Macedonia and the formation and spread of Hellenistic culture by Alexander the Great.


GDOE Standard 6.2.10 (Extra Curricular Activity)

Discuss how ancient Rome from about 700 B.C. (B.C.E.) to 500 A.D. (C.E.) influenced Western civilization based on 1) mythology and religion, 2) the social structure and role of slavery, 3) significance of citizenship and the development of democratic features in the government, 4) military domination of the Mediterranean basin and Western Europe, 5) the roles of Julius and Augustus Caesar in the collapse of the Republic and the rise of imperial Monarchs, 6) Contributions in art and architecture, technology and science, medicine, literature and history, language, religious institutions, and law.


GDOE Standard 6.2.11 (Extra Curricular Activity)

Sequence and explain important events of Western Europe during the Middle Ages from about 500 to 1000 A.D. (C.E.), including the following:

• The spread and influence of Christianity and the Catholic Church throughout Europe

• The structure of feudal society and its economic, social, and political effects

• The rise of Frankish kings, the Age of Charlemagne, and the revival of the idea of the Roman Empire

• The invasions, settlements, and influence of migratory groups, as well as Angles, Saxons, Magyars, and Vikings
