The plaque near the main entrance of Grace Church's nave lists the names of eleven men killed in World War I.
The Rector at the time, Walter Russell Bowie, opposed the memorial, suggesting that a second plaque to conscientious objectors also be dedicated. But the congregation didn't endorse his idea.
Rev. Waring, ever generous with his time, took us around the church to discuss Grace Church in the 1930s, as the congregation confronted the the coming of the Nazis and contemplated a second world war. We then researched the lives of the men whose names are on the plaque.
