Thinking Process:
As I said before, I knew my project would have art as the fondation. When I decided to do sculputres, figuring out what I was going to make out of those sculptures was a little more difficult. After some though I decided to do them out of different mental illnesses. I choose this because while mental illness is definitely talked about in the Grace Community, it is rarely illsutrated. We highschoolers often deal with stress and the pressures of academics and social interations in unhealthy ways which can contribute to the development of mental health problems, or make them worse if it already exist. I decided to choose three: depression, social axenity, and dissociative identity disorder. I was going to make each one out of different material, but after consulting Mrs. Salazar and expert, (name), I decided to just go with clay for all of them.
Physical Process:
Once I had ordered my clay, I began making sketches for the first sculpture, drepression. I am quite the imaginative person, so after looking at videos and articles of what it feels like, I was able to draw what it might look like. Of couse, it is a different expiernce for everyone and considering that I personally do not have this illness, it is important to get different perpectives. So after I was done with my sketches I asked some of my peers which sketch they prefered or which one made the most sense and went with the majority rule and what I also though fit best. I repeted this process with the two other illnesses.
I created a loose deadline for each sculpture, which did not work as well as I thought. I planed to start and finish my 1st sculpture and start on the second during the first IP10 week. Then finish the 2nd scupture and start and finish the 3rd in the second IP10 week. This did not happen, but in the end I was able to complete all 3 sculptures which was the main goal.
