Sketches 

First, to map out my ideas and get a hand at drawing my subjects, I drew rough sketches and wrote down my observations and ideas. These were very rough ideas which are interesting to look back on as I have seen my ideas shift as I have finished the pieces. 

Next, I drew the subject on a scrap piece of paper and cut it to fit the size of the canvas. (see below for first stages and final sketches of drawings)

I used the second final drawing to lay out my drawing of the two boys on my canvas but could not with the first drawing due to the canvas being too rough a material. To transfer the drawing I layered a sheet of graphite paper and the drawing on top of the canvas and drew over my previous lines, imprinting the drawing onto the clear and white canvas.
