Going into this project I expected to learn about music. I thought I would learn about songwriting and the industry in general from the people that I interviewed. I did learn those things, I learned a lot about and found it very interesting to see the vastly different perspectives that I got just from three different people. I asked similar questions and got such different responses which I thought was really interesting. However, not only did I learn a lot about music, I also learned about editing and organization. For my project I had to conduct interviews, so I had to reach out in advance to make sure that I would have enough people given that I would probably get rejected sometimes and I also had to make sure that I would be able to plan all my interviews in time. Although it might seem obvious, I learned a lot about planning and what it takes to create a project over a long period of time because in the past the longest projects I've had to create were made over about a couple weeks for school. I also learned valuable skills about how to edit. Once I conducted my interviews I had to edit all the audios together and also be selective in what music I wanted to add in. I had to learn what sounds natural and how long the clips should be. I think I've learned a lot, both what I expected and some things that I didn't expect to get out of my project.
If I were to redo this year and start my project over, I think I might try to extend it. Although I didn't finish too early, I was complete by the end of week 2 of IP10, so I think there might've been some areas to expand. For example, maybe trying to conduct more interviews or adding a visual component or maybe even trying to experiment in making my own music so I would have more real life experience in my project. But overall, I really enjoyed the process of creating what I did end up making.
