This project was a very fun journey for me, and throughout doing this I learned some important things, both about the learning and creating process as well as myself. Starting in the beginning, I realized that I am very ambitious with my goals, as I wanted to do something major and do something really big, but realization set in as I realized it would not be feasible. After coming up with my project, and doing some research, I realized how much rock climbing is apart of New York City, with there being 10+ places to go within Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens alone. I realized that each place is very different though, with the differences including the structures upon which the climbing occurs, the price, the different types of climbing, how hard the rate the climbs, and it gives each one a unique feel. Doing the ratings I saw how important the amount of climbs and the distance from public transport has on the score, resulting in scores ranging from the tens to the thousands. I also realized how important thorough research is, because if not for researching each place beforehand, I would not have been able to cut a few off of the list, because I would not have been able to rate them, therefore wasting my march madness time. These two places were Brooklyn Boulders because they were closed for renovations, and adaptive climbing group, which is a place that is enabling people with disabilities to climb. Overall, this project made my love for rock climbing grow, and opened up my eyes on the different places that you could go, and hopefully, creating this webstie will allow for others to find the place right for them.
