8:30am to 10am
*Parent Tech Cleanse*
We invite parents to participate in unplugging from their devices checking their devices upon arrival. While this separation will not be required, we are encouraging everyone to take a pause from their devices for the day. Look for the "Tech Cleanse" sign. The mezzanine will also be a space for tech use if necessary.
📚 *Technology as a Learning Resource at Grace*: Hear from a panel of Grace administrators and faculty to learn more about how technology is approached as a learning tool in the classroom. You will leave with a better understanding of the school’s philosophy for considering educational technology (EdTech) as a learning resource.
🤓 *What is the Science Behind Kids and Video Gaming*: Led by ScreenStrong, you will leave with information about how video games interact with kids' brains and how to talk to your child about this topic.
📲 *How to set Parental Controls*: Bring your/your child device to this hands on workshop where Jonathan Werbell will walk parents through the mind boggling and confusing steps to set limits on devices.
☀️ *Create a Summer Tech Plan*: Join Common Sense Media’s Karla Cosgriff to learn tools on setting your family up for success on intentional tech use during the summer and how to have tricky conversations with family and friends about differing technology rules.

Plan Your Unplug Activity
We invite families to “Unplug To Connect” at home on May 6th. Since screen use and technology-based activities at school that day will be limited, we encourage families to limit screen use and technology at home to deepen the intention for “Unplug To Connect,” which is to bring awareness to our tech-use and make room for meaningful face-to-face activities and connections.
For families who are interested, we encourage you to make a screen and tech free plan: designate how technology will be used that day. For example, designating spaces in your home such as the living room to be tech free, and limiting use of tech to a certain area if absolutely necessary.
Think ahead:
Transportation:
Make plans to avoid dependence on apps for transportation (maybe ride a bike, use the subway, hail a cab, walk, carpool)
Examples of ways to unplug & connect:
Board Game night
Go out for a walk together
Read a funny story aloud
Run around a park
Meal-planning:
Picnic potluck with friends
Don’t rely on food delivery apps
Order take out in person
Try a new recipe from a book & make dinner together
Reflect:
At the end of the day, reflect on how the day was for your family. Did you feel more connected to yourselves and each other? Were there adventures or unexpected experiences from that day because of the disruption of reliance on tech?
