Skylar

• Skylar has evolved a lot since her creation. When I was writing my character files, she was always in the background. She did not really come into focus until I picked her name out. Despite being the protagonist, she was designed to stay in the background and Cady was supposed to drive her investigations around Anne. She was designed to be passive and unsuspicious. All of this changed as she evolved. She was also originally supposed to be much nicer and more careful.

Callie

• Callie has also evolved a lot since her creation, but not as much as the protagonist has. She was originally supposed to be the protagonist's younger sister and was supposed to be age 9. Her main change, other than her age, is simply the addition and expansion of her original personality.

Cady

• Since her creation near the beginning of my writing process, Cady has not changed that much. She is one of the characters that has changed the least since her beginning. The only thing that has changed since her beginning are the dynamics of her relationship with Skylar.

The Governess

• The Governess has maintained her purpose throughout the writing process. She is one of the four original people for this story, along with Skylar (as a protagonist character), Anne, and Callie.

Anne

• Anne has changed quite a bit since her creation, but has always stayed true to her original designs and plot lines. The things that have been changed are her backstory, her motivation, and her relationship with Callie.

•  Other than Anne's gain of new motives, she still follows her original plot line. The other thing about her that has changed a lot is her age. She was originally supposed to be a really smart 7 year old. That got moved to 10 and then to 11, before it was moved to her current age.

Anne's father

• Anne's father came into existence when I thought about the question why Anne wants to control everyone as that was her original plot line. (She was supposed to possess everyone in the castle and Skylar and Cady were supposed to stop her). He was the answer to that question.

Mr. Alexander Carter

• Mr. Alexander Carter came into existence when I realized that the castle would need at least one person to keep watch over it and to run it, if it were to be open to the public. He has not changed that much.

Cameron

• Cameron is one of the characters that has changed the most throughout the story. He came into existence because I realized that the story needed more people as it only had Skylar (but she wasn't evolved or named at the time), Anne (almost fully evolved), Callie, Cady, the Governess, and Anne's father. When I was brainstorming for him, I came up with three options. I decided to keep all three. They became Cameron, Logan and Noah.

Logan

• Logan came into existence as detailed above. Since that time, he hasn't really changed much.

Noah

• Noah came into existence as detailed in Cameron's paragraph. The only thing about him that has changed is that he became much more willing to help the protagonist and her friends than he was originally.
