Gen Z, despite being the most "stressed" generation, has almost no targeted resources online to help teenagers and young adults manage their stress.
Our proposed method to help lower teenage stress levels is to provide a simple, free digital app that guides teenagers through daily mindfulness practices to help calm their central nervous system and live out a more enjoyable stress-free life!
Why I chose to develop BeMindful
As a student-athlete who balances two competitive sports, honors classes, and extracurriculars, it can be hard finding time to relax in my schedule. I would notice myself getting caught up in my routine and getting overwhelmed when work would pile up, and I would have to sacrifice my well-being in order to perform better in sports and school. When march madness projects were introduced, I thought to myself about doing a project that could help my peers and me out in a simple way. The concept of BeMindful came to mind when I was searching for an online mindfulness app that I could utilize for simple breathing practices throughout my day. Unfortunately, leading mindfulness applications such as Headspace and Calm require a charge upwards of $70 to use the app to its full potential. These apps were also tedious and seemed only to cater to adults.
That's when the idea of a mindfulness app made by a teen for teens came to mind.
What if I could create an online program that seems plausible to teens and has no fee?
