My initial research was on buildings in NYC that hold significance and embody the image that people think of when they think of Manhattan. So, I began researching buildings to create models of. These include UN building and the Empire State Building. Those buildings have cultural, political, economic magnitude. I was born and raised in NYC so the subject matter was important to me, and I value the opportunity to create a project about my own interests. This project is an homage to my home.
As I continued researching, I was inspired by the Art Deco style which is very prominent in classic Manhatten architecture. So, I decided that because our IP10 projects were meant to allow us to create things based on our passions, I would create a unique building. My building is made up of all the inspiration from the most famous and important buildings around me.
I wanted to get the opinions and ideas of a professional architect, so I interviewed Stacey Storm, who graduated from Harvard's Graduate School of Design. Immediately into the interview, she helped me plan out my ideas and put my thoughts to paper. We went over the materials I would need to use and other details that would help my project develop.
