NCDPI has published professional development modules to support school teams in implementing MTSS in their schools. Most of these modules can be accessed through NCEES. Instructions on how to access NCEES professional development modules can be found here.
The Integrated Academic & Behavior Systems (IABS) Team intentionally designed online training modules to be utilized in conjunction with real-time processing and application within a team, such as a PLC or school/district leadership team, and with coaching support. The Online modules created by the IABS Division are not intended for individuals to complete and implement on their own. Even though many district or school team members go through the content individually, it is expected that the content will then be discussed and implemented through established teaming structures.
The content from the Online MTSS Learning Series has been made available on Google Sites. Please note that the sites do not contain the processing activities and no professional development credits are available for accessing these sites.

The Creating a Professional Culture Based on Social and Emotional Learning course is designed as part of an online professional learning series developed by Integrated Academic and Behavior Systems. The intent of the series is to support teacher, administrator, and school staff understanding of what social and emotional learning (SEL) is and its importance, as well as to explain how to implement and integrate SEL into their respective contexts in a culturally responsive way.
This course is intended for general education teachers and special education teachers/providers. We anticipate this course to be beneficial to you by providing appropriate training in procedures and addressing student behavior in a positive and safe manner. This is directly in response to House Bill 1032/Deborah Greenblatt Act (Session Law 2005-205): An act to clarify the permissible use of seclusion and restraint in the Public Schools and to provide training in the management of student behavior.
In this course, de-escalation prevention and intervention are explored through:
Describing the House Bill 1032/Deborah Greenblatt Act
Defining terminology within House Bill 1032/Deborah Greenblatt Act
Reviewing reasonable use of restraint and seclusion
Underscoring the necessity of verbal de-escalation and classroom management strategies
The intent of this course is to provide participants with foundational information and resources regarding non-violent crisis intervention.
Enroll in the course in NCEES #12408.
