Hi! My name is Claire Kassitas and I am starting my second year teaching! I currently teach 8th Grade Social Studies and 7th Grade Current Events. I am from Frankfort, IL and earned my degree in Secondary Education (History) from Southern Illinois University (Go Dawgs!). Outside of teaching, I am the Assistant Coach for Girls Track and Field and the sponsor for Geography Club.

Welcome! This is my second year in the GCMS district; however, I previously taught Agriculture for the past 13 years. and currently serve as the assistant FFA Advisor for GCMS FFA. After graduating from Fisher High School (better to be a Bunnie than to get beat by one), I attended Parkland College and earned my bachelors from the University of Illinois. My husband, Zach, and I reside in rural Gibson City with our four children - Bailey, a sophomore at GCMS High School; Braelyn, a 7th grader at GCMS Middle School; and Briggs and Bodie {the twins} are the entourage.

Hello everyone! I am Danielle Kirby and this is my 7th year teaching at GCMS and my third year as an 8th grade English teacher. I received my Bachelor’s Degree at Eastern Illinois University in English Language Arts and Social Science. I grew up in Gibson City and married my high school sweetheart. We have a three year old son and a one year old daughter.
This year in 8th grade English, my hope is that each student will become better readers and writers. Please reach out if you have any questions!

The 2023-2024 school year will be my 22nd year teaching at GCMS and this will be my 2nd year as a Math Interventionist at the Middle School. I am an 8th grade enrichment teacher as well. Outside of teaching I coach both the High School and Middle School baseball teams.

The 2025-2026 school year will be my 8th year teaching at GCMS middle school and my 18th year teaching. I graduated with a bachelors in elementary education degree from Olivet Nazarene University. I then went back and got two masters - in Curriculum and Instruction any my Reading Specialist degree from Olivet as well. I am the 6th and 7th grade literacy teacher as well as the reading interventionist for the building. I graduated from Lexington High School in 2009 and then attended the University of Kansas for 2 years! I transferred to Heartland CC and then to NWOSU to finish my bachelor's and master's degrees. My original plan was to be a state trooper but fell in love with a different career in public housing. I also enjoyed coaching gymnastics/cheer and that led to me coaching Woodward High School cheerleading and then to a teaching job at WHS. I then taught and coached at Shattuck girls basketball and cheerleading. After 2 years at SHS my family and I moved to Gibson City where we are now. I have two daughters, Parker and Oakley, and my lovely wife, Mrs. V, who works at the Middle School as well.

Hello! My name is Jennifer Allen. I have been teaching for 32 years, with this being my 22nd year at G.C.M.S. I teach primarily 6th grade Language Arts, but I am lucky to have one 8th grade class of Written Communications. I am happily married to Mike, who just retired from GCMS in May. We share three children: our sons are Austin and Keegan who are 26 years old, and our daughter Payton is 21 years old.
I love teaching writing to students so that I can learn something new about each and every one of them. It provides the students with more critical thinking, creativity, and verbal skills if we share the written work with our classmates.
