Choirs

We are thrilled to offer a wide variety of ensembles within our choir program. Below you will find a brief description of each ensemble, as well as our daily schedule.

Meistersingers

Meistersingers is the premiere vocal ensemble in the THS Choir Program. Students placed in this choir must have very strong sight-reading skills and the ability to perform a variety of repertoire in a mixed ensemble setting. The Meistersingers attend UIL both as a mixed ensemble and separately as treble and tenor/bass groups. This ensemble sings the National Anthem at all home football games and is required to participate in UIL Solo and Ensemble. Students in this ensemble must have very strong musicianship, remain academically eligible, and be of the highest character. This ensemble reads Grade IV-V Literature at UIL. Placement in this choir is by audition only. Grades 10-12

Bella Voce

Bella Voce is the varsity treble ensemble in the THS Choir Program. This choir is combined with the treble sections from Meistersingers to create one large varsity treble ensemble at concerts and UIL competition. Students in this ensemble are required to participate in UIL Solo and Ensemble. Students placed in this choir must have intermediate to strong sight-reading skills. A variety of repertoire is performed in this varsity treble ensemble. Placement in this choir is by audition only. Grades 10-12

Wildcat Chorale

Wildcat Chorale is an auditioned intermediate ensemble for treble voices. Freshman may be accepted into this choir. This class puts a strong emphasis on building sight-reading skills. Students in this ensemble are required to participate in UIL Solo and Ensemble. This choir competes as a non-varsity ensemble at UIL. Placement in this choir is by audition only. Grades 9-12

Concert Tenor-Bass Choir

Concert Tenor-Bass Choir is open to all tenor-bass voiced students who are either incoming freshmen or have not been in choir before. An emphasis is placed on basic vocal technique and building sight-reading skills. Grades 9-12

Concert Treble Choir

Concert Treble Choir is open to all treble voiced students who are either incoming freshmen or have not been in choir before. An emphasis is placed on basic vocal technique and building sight-reading skills. Grades 9-12

Chamber Ensembles

Polyfoniks

Polyfoniks is the premier small ensemble in the THS Choir Program. This group is an auditioned mixed ensemble. The Polyfoniks perform a large variety of repertoire at many concerts throughout the year. The Polyfoniks often perform in the community and travel throughout the state representing THS Choirs. Students must be concurrently enrolled in another ensemble. Grades 10-12

Encore

Encore is an auditioned treble voiced ensemble. This group performs a large variety of repertoire at many concerts throughout the year. Encore often performs in the community and travels throughout the state representing THS Choirs. Students must be concurrently enrolled in another ensemble. Grades 9-12
