Happy Sunday!
It was such a delight to kick off the new school year with our newest GES Stars at the Kinder Star Camp and Pre-K Mingle last week. Joy and I loved meeting all of the students and their wonderful families!
We are just a week and a half away from welcoming everyone back, and we can't wait to see you all! In my last newsletter, I introduced my family to you. Now, I'm thrilled to introduce our new assistant principal, Joy Gibson, who will share a little about herself and her own kids who are joining GES this year.
Hello GES Community,
I am delighted to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal, Joy Gibson. This academic year marks my 13th year in education, and I am eager to contribute to this esteemed community in my new role.
My career began in Memphis, Tennessee, where I taught 3rd and 4th grade. In 2015, my family and I relocated to Texas, and I've since had the privilege of serving within the GCISD for the past decade. My experience includes eight years teaching 3rd and 2nd grade at Bear Creek Elementary, followed by two years as a Learning Liaison at Bransford Elementary. These experiences have provided me with a comprehensive understanding of elementary education and a deep commitment to student success.
On a personal note, my family is also looking forward to becoming active members of the Grapevine Elementary community. We have three children, with a fourth on the way! My daughter, Harlyn, will be entering second grade, and my son, Crozby, will begin Kindergarten here at GES. We are all enthusiastic about embarking on this new chapter together.
I am committed to fostering a supportive and enriching learning environment for all students and look forward to collaborating with the dedicated staff, parents, and students of Grapevine Elementary. I am excited to work alongside you all to ensure a successful and positive experience for every child.
Together We Shine!
Mrs. Teeter-Stocz & Mrs. Gibson
Below are the slideshow presentations from the Pre-K Mingle and Kinder Camp sessions we had this past week with families. If you have any questions please reach out directly to the Pre-K or Kinder teachers, or you can email Brooke.Teeterstocz@gcisd.net.
Thank you!
As we create our class placements for students for the '25-'26 school year, please ensure your student is registered. Registration is still open for all new and returning students. The earlier you register, the better we can plan.
The following links will help you access registration documents:
Please note registration for the new school year closes on Tuesday, August 12th at 12:00pm. Anybody trying to register after the deadline will be unable to register until after 12:00 pm on Wednesday, August 13th. Please ensure registration is complete before August 12th at noon, so your child can start school on Wednesday, the 13th.
If you missed the PTA School Supply order in the spring and will be shopping on your own, HERE is a copy of the GCISD School Supply list for elementary students. Teachers will determine how supplies are handled within their classrooms. If you have a strong preference for your child to only utilize their own supplies, please let your child's teacher know. Ensure your child's supplies and pencil box are clearly labeled to help them keep track of their items.
If you ordered supplies, those will be picked up at Meet the Teacher Night.
Please save the date for Meet the Teacher 2025! School begins on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, so we will have Meet the Teacher on Monday night, August 11, 2025, from 4:30-6:00 pm. This is a come-and-go event, so feel free to stop in when your schedule allows. During this event, your Star can meet their new teacher, see their new classroom, reconnect with friends, and bring their supplies to leave in their classroom!
Our PTA will be set up in the cafeteria with various tables and opportunities for families to join the PTA, check out our PTA-sponsored clubs, and more!
Additionally, our PTA is hosting an In-N-Out Burger dinner event, where families can order burgers and enjoy reconnecting with friends before or after their student meets their teacher. (See information below in the PTA section to pre-order your food!)
We also encourage all families to print their "First Day of School" visitor badge at our kiosks while on campus.
Walking your child to class on the first day of school is a time-honored tradition. Families have the option to walk their child to class on Wednesday, August 13th, and can take pictures before giving their kids a big hug and wishing them a great day! However, we need your help! In order to safely have all visitors in the building, EVERYONE (over the age of 18) will need to Raptor in at our kiosks in the vestibule. In an effort to alleviate long lines on the first morning of school, we are allowing families to print their "First Day of School" visitor badge in advance. You may do this at Meet the Teacher on Monday, August 11th, from 4:30 - 6:00 OR on Tuesday, August 12th, from 8:00-4:00 pm. You will simply scan your valid ID and print the badge, then hold onto it until Wednesday morning. When you arrive on campus on Wednesday, please plan to wear your badge on your shirt where it can be visible to all staff and have your photo ID available as you enter the building so we can ensure it matches the badge. We will have plenty of staff at the main foyer entrances to allow all those with a printed badge to enter quickly. We appreciate your support and cooperation as we continue this tradition in a safe manner for all students and staff.
Independence Day this year will be on Thursday, August 14th! Families will be able to walk their children to the foyer entrances and send them off into the building independently from there. We will have lots of adults stationed and ready to help escort students to their classrooms.
Students are expected to be dropped off at the school no earlier than 7:20 a.m.
Parents may use the front OR the back driveway to drop students off in the morning. Parking is available in the main parking lot off Hughes Road before and after school. Parking is not available in the circle drive off Hall Johnson Road as that is reserved for the staff.
Student drop off is not permitted in the parking lot at any time.
Once in the school, students in Pre-K will walk directly to their classrooms and sit outside the classroom doors from 7:20 - 7:30 a.m. Students in K-5 will walk directly to the cafeteria where they will sit in there from 7:20 - 7:30 a.m.
At 7:30, students will walk to their classrooms in the instructional hallways.
Students must be in their seats in their classrooms at 7:35 a.m. or they will be counted as tardy.
Students who wish to eat breakfast may purchase in the cafeteria from 7:20-7:30am.
This year's dismissal will look the same whether it's sunny or rainy outside.
All students will be escorted to their dismissal locations by a staff member. Please do not arrange to meet your child inside the school building.
Students have designated pick-up areas depending on their mode of transportation home:
EDP students will be escorted to the cafeteria.
Walkers will meet their siblings, neighbors, and/or walking parents and quickly proceed to the crosswalk nearest their homes. Walker Station areas should be cleared out within minutes of dismissal.
Bus riders and daycare students will be waiting inside on the Hall Johnson side as they wait for the bus. They will be monitored by a staff member.
K-1st-grade students and their older siblings walking home will be dismissed from the area outside the foyer doors near the cafeteria on the circle drive side of the building.
2nd - 5th-grade walkers will be dismissed to the Hughes parking lot side near the bike racks.
Car Riders
PreK - 1st grade students AND their older siblings will be waiting indoors and will exit the building off Hall Johnson Road when their parent arrives in the circle drive.
2nd - 5th grade students WITHOUT younger siblings in PreK-1st will be waiting indoors in the gym and will exit the building on the Hughes Road side (where the large parking lot is located) when their parent arrives.
Requests for dismissal changes should be sent in advance whenever possible to your child's homeroom teacher. If there is an emergency and you need to change your child's regular dismissal plans on the day of, please call the front office at 817-251-5735.
Friendly reminders regarding dismissal:
Parents may NOT park and walk through the building to pick up PreK-1st graders on the Hall Johnson side of the building.
Student pick-up is not permitted in the parking lot at any time.
Dogs are not allowed on campus grounds due to student safety.
The small playground is closed after school due to it being reserved for EDP until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Thank you for your cooperation as we ensure the safety of all of our students!
Car Riders: Please have your car/walker signs visible and hanging from your Rearview Mirror when you come through either car line at dismissal. This will expedite our pick-up process and ensure your child makes it safely to your car.
Walkers: We are making a change this year regarding the walker pick-up process. Please carry your car/walker signs every day throughout the entire year when picking up your child. This is to ensure the safety of all students, especially as we have new administration, front office staff, and teachers.
Anyone who doesn't have a car/walker sign to pick up a child will be asked to come to the front office and show their ID for verification.
Parent Information Night will be on August 28 from 6:00-7:00 pm. More information will come soon regarding details.
We LOVE our volunteers at GES! This year, we are encouraging all families who plan to come to campus and interact with students to go ahead and complete the background check. Volunteers must complete this EACH YEAR beginning in August! It can take 1-2 weeks for your background check to clear. If you plan to be a guest reader, volunteer at a class party, chaperone a field trip, volunteer with PTA, open car doors with our Dad's Club, etc., you will need a completed Background Check!
This year, GCISD has moved to a different program to complete background checks. Please follow the steps below:
Grapevine-Colleyville ISD is pleased to announce that we will begin using the Raptor Volunteer Management System in all of our schools to strengthen our volunteer program of campus safety for students and faculty. This system is similar to what we have used in the past, AppGarden.
Please use the following link to apply to become a volunteer in GCISD.
Thank you!
When you are ready to volunteer at GES, feel free to call the front office at 817-251-5735 to verify that both of the required steps have been recorded as completed. We appreciate your support as you complete these steps and volunteer to work with our GES students.
This year, to streamline communication, families will fill out this GES Student Absence Google Form, which goes directly to Mrs. McCann, our data clerk/registrar. Any time that your student is absent, please fill out this Google Form, and she will code it correctly in Skyward. If you have any questions, please email Allison.Mccann@gcisd.net or call 817-251-5733.
Lunch guests will sign in through our secure vestibule with a valid ID, stop by the front office to check in and receive a visitor badge, and then meet their GES star at the entrance to the cafeteria. Families will have the option to sit outside in the picnic table area for lunch or in our cafeteria at an empty table near the windows. Parents are welcome to bring in outside food when having lunch with their child. Lunch visitors may only eat with their child or student. You may not invite friends to sit with you when coming for lunch.
Due to spacing, we ask that you please be mindful of our amazing GES community, who wants to have lunch with their children, and limit lunch visits with your child to no more than once a week. This will allow all families to have the opportunity to visit. We appreciate your cooperation!
The Google Form for lunches will begin the week of September 2nd. A link will be available soon here in the Sunday Star News.
This is a live Google Calendar that we will keep updated throughout the year with campus activities. Click the calendar to open it up so you can switch to week or month view and look at future dates. Please check back frequently for new additions.

This is the 2025-2026 school year updated GCISD cell phone policy that adheres to the requirements of HB1481.
Click here to see the FAQ regarding the updated policy including consequences, use of smart watches for time, medical reasons for using a phone, and more.
The intent behind House Bill 1481 is to limit distractions in the classroom and across campus so students can stay focused on learning. As a public school district, we are required to follow this law, and we ask for your support in helping us enforce it consistently.
Thank you!
Who's Hungry??
Eating a healthy meal before school and for lunch helps contribute to our students' success! See below for lots of information about breakfast and lunch at Dove!
Paying for Meals
GCISD will begin charging for meals this year. To see if your child qualifies for Free or Reduced Meal Pricing, please click HERE and complete the form.
To add money to your child's meal account, please send a check to school with them or drop it by the front office. **Pro Tip** Download the My School Bucks App from your App Store. You can add money directly to your child's meal account, track their spending, and receive notifications when their meal account runs low!
Breakfast- $1.85
Breakfast will be served 7:20-7:30 each morning, and students needing to grab a breakfast before heading to their classrooms should arrive as close to 7:20 as possible each day!
Lunch- $3.10
When will my child eat lunch?
Lunch times vary by grade level, but each grade level will have 30 minutes in the cafeteria. 30 minutes will fly by! If sending a lunch from home, please practice with your child how to open the containers by themselves.
If buying a lunch from the cafeteria, students will go through the serving line and choose a milk, entree, and sides.
Can I drop off lunch for my child?
Parents may drop off lunches for their students in the front office secured vestibule. If possible, please label your child's lunch. If needed, there is a sharpie and sticky notes on the shelves you can use to label your child's lunch. Once labeled, place their lunch on the correct grade-level shelf.
No Commercial Deliveries
We do not allow any other food deliveries for students other than parent drop-offs. DoorDash, Uber Eats, or any other food delivery services for students will not be accepted.
Where will my child eat lunch?
All students have a 30 minute lunch in the cafeteria with their class at some point during the day. Lunch times will be shared with families at Meet the Teacher Night. One helpful tip for families of PK and Kinder students is to help your student start practicing opening packages by themself and eating at a table!
Starting on July 8, 2025, applications were made available to fill out for the 2025-2026 school year. Families are encouraged to complete the Application for Free and Reduced-Price School Meals available online at www.schoollunchapp.com. A paper copy may be downloaded from the website or requested at any campus or Nutrition Services office.
The application will determine a child’s eligibility for free and reduced-price meals and may assist in the determination of eligibility for other state or federal benefits. Only one application needs to be completed per household. Schools will notify the household of the child’s eligibility. The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) administers school nutrition programs in Texas and offers an eligibility calculator at www.SquareMeals.org/ProgramEligibility.
Decisions regarding payment for school meals are made at the national-government level, not by the school nutrition team or TDA. The dedicated staff in Nutrition Services is looking forward to serving healthy, balanced meals to students in the new school year. If you have any questions, please call 817-251-5617 or email child.nutrition@gcisd.net
Texas legislation has approved a 2025-26 biennium budget, which includes covering the cost of school breakfasts starting August 1, 2025 and lunches starting September 1, 2025 for students whose campuses participate in the federal meal programs and are eligible for reduced price meals. Students that are approved for reduced-price meals may eat breakfast starting August 1, 2025 and lunch starting September 1, 2025 at no cost this school year. (Does not apply at Grapevine High, Colleyville Heritage High and Bridges, reduced priced is $0.30 breakfast, $0.40 lunch )
